Shoot the Rapids is a log flume water ride designed by Intamin located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. The entrance to the ride is on the Frontier Trail with the ride located on Adventure Island.

History[]
In 1967, Cedar Point built a second log flume, Shoot-the-Rapids, the other being Mill Race at the front of the park. Shoot-the-Rapids closed in 1981 to make room for White Water Landing. White Water Landing closed in 2005 because of popularity loss and maintenance costs. Cedar Point then needed another log flume so they decided to reuse the Shoot the Rapids name and build a log flume on unused land on what was known as Millennium Island at the time (now called Adventure Island).
Shoot the Rapids is Cedar Point's third and most expensive water ride, the other two being Thunder Canyon and Snake River Falls.
The ride[]
The ride is based on taking a journey through a rustic western environment and takes riders through an illegal moonshine business. Guests board flat bottom, 10-passenger fiberglass boats that advance through the attraction along a canal of water. Special effects include rock canyons, geysers, water features, and a dark tunnel. Riders must be 48 inches tall.
Shoot the Rapids contains 2 lift hills. The first hill being 85 feet (26 m) drop, at 85 feet tall, the ride is as tall as the Corkscrew coaster and the second hill being 49 feet (15 m). The second hill crosses under the first. The drops are about 45 degrees. Depending on where one sits, a rider can get slightly wet or totally drenched.[1]
